This dance marks the start of Northern Spy’s 30th season– mark your calendars now for our big 30th anniversary celebration on November 14, which will start an hour earlier than usual, at 7 PM, with couple dances and continuing at 8 PM with contras, squares, and more.
The talented musicians on stage are Bill Shepard, Thal Aylward, and Andy Stewart, fiddles; Rick Barrows, mandolin, mandala, tenor banjo; Alan Graham and Mary Jo Slattery, guitars; and Carol Compton on piano, recorders, and accordion. We’re delighted this fall to be welcoming back a former member of the band, the multi-talented David Murray on flute and whistle.
No previous experience is necessary, and those of you on this list are encouraged to bring friends with you to introduce them to the joys of traditional New England music and dance. (One good way is to forward this message to a friend and set up a date for supper beforehand!)
Please bring non-scuffing shoes with you to the hall, so you can change there and avoid scratching the floor. The entrance to the dance is on the side next to the Congregational Church in downtown Norwich, just half a mile from Exit 14 of I-91.
