I saw steam coming out of Benton’s sugar house on the way to town meeting this
morning and young Brad tells me they’ve already made 100 gallons. So that means
it’s time to gather at the school for the annual West Thornton Grange Sugar On
snow Party. That’s next Saturday, March 19, at the Thornton, NH, school on Route
175.

As in years past, we will begin serving the sugar on snow, pickles, punch,
coffee and donuts at 7 PM so don’t eat dessert before you leave home. It looks
like finding snow to put the sugar on will not be a
problem this year. We’ll try to get the dance going at 8 or so. Marie
Kettenring is providing the fiddling this year. Volunteer musicians are welcome
as always.

Asking price for the whole evening is $8/adult and $3/kid (not yet in high
school). This is the one fundraising event that the Grange holds each year and
we have lots of help from others, for which we are very
thankful. Some of what we raise goes for the Dictionary Project. Each year we
provide local Third Graders with their own dictionaries that they can keep.
