The Monadnock Folklore Society presents the Peterborough, NH First Saturday Contra Dance on October 4th, featuring Adina Gordon calling with Rebecca Bosworth-Clemens, Jon Cannon, Michael Sokolovsky.
Adina Gordon calls dances throughout the country, delighting dancers with her energy and enthusiasm. Experienced and new dancers alike enjoy her clear teaching and choice of engaging dances.
Clarinetist Rebecca Bosworth-Clemens graduated from the University of Maine in 2010. She also had her first taste of contra dancing and New England folk music while in high school and now plays regularly in the great Boston region. Michael Sokolovsky plays guitar with the well-known California contra dance band, Uncle Farmer. Fiddler Jon Cannon plays everything from klezmer to techno. These three young musicians will bring an exciting and danceable sound to Peterborough.
The dancing begins at 8:00 PM, with an optional introductory workshop beforehand. Admission is $10 or $7 for students and seniors. An open jam session for beginning and intermediate musicians takes place from 6:30 – 7:30 PM.
